Football Tearn
Championship performance and football, synonymous with Brooklyn Tech's
Engineers through the past years, is reflected in the team's 3 win, 3 loss, I tie
record. Strong line play and hard backfield running led to the defeat of first–
place teams, Jefferson and Boys High, at the close of the season.
Highlighting the season's schedule was the game played at Jefferson against
a team ranked fourth in the nation. Though entered as a 20-point underdog,
Tech emerged as victor, 15-6. Through the combined efforts of the coaching
staff, led by Coach Adam Cirillo, and the team, the Engineers went on to
defeat Boys in the last
53
seconds, 16-12.
Predominantly composed of juniors, the future team has had the oppor–
tunity to work with a defense that many times had to hold its own ten-yard
line and with an offense that would have placed the team in the City finals if
it had not been for key interceptions in its first games.
The line, headed by seniors Ted Staniac, Pedro Caban, Frank Sabatino,
Bob Stulman, Don Maggio, Captain Rick Ferrarin and junior Paul Massarachio,
was supported by the backfield's Jim Devito. In defense, many potential touch–
downs were thwarted by linebacker Howie Thomas and defensive backs Raja
Sherriff end John Spiezie.
