The Swimming Team
Under the supervision of Coach Sy Zaglin, the Natators stroked to
their 19th consecutive Borough Championship while increasing the
team's consecutive dual-meet string to 174 division meets.
As Tech also placed second at the P.S.A.L. City Individual Cham–
pionships, Tech swimmers collected their share of medals. Co-Captain
Howie Fluhr led Tech's 200-yard medley relay to a third-place finish.
In the 200 yard freestyle, Co-Captain Bob Snyder ended a fine high
school career by placing third. Although Co-Captains Mike Marino
and Ray Newbold did not place in the meet, both ended the season
with very impressive records.
Other Seniors on this year's Varsity Swimming Team were: Saul
Abraham, Dennis Branscum, Richard Damm, Richard Gershin, Paul
Goddard, Arthur Jonas, William Kelley, William Mason, Victor Madeja,
Richard Micker, Bruce Thompson, and Arnold Lashinsky (mgr.).
