Chemical Course
In the times of the Vikings , a class in chem–
istry would be studying alchemy and apothe–
cary. Students were taught how to mix herbs
and drugs. In their "labs," the students made
dyes for clothes.
As the Vikings, the students in the C hem–
ical Course at Tech also test theories in the
laboratory. The student in the Chem Course
studies such subjects as organic and inorganic
chemistry, quantitative and qualitative anal–
ysis. Laboratory work includes the preparation
of such compounds as chloroform, aspirin,
dyes and plastics. In the Industrial Chem Lab
the student learns methods of distillation,
heat exchange, filtration and crystallization on
a pilot-plant scale.
