The Industrial Design
Course
In the days of the Vikings, many skilled de–
signers were required to plan the construction
of their great "Longships" and ominous weapons.
The skillfully carved dragon heads that orna–
mented the bow and the sails with their colorful
designs were testimonials to the skill of the Vik–
ing designers.
The Vikings learned their skills from experi–
enced craftsmen and served under them as ap–
prentices. Like the Vikings, the Industrial Design
students are instructed in the fundamentals of
design. As a result of this training, the Tech in–
dustrial design boys are given a chance to create
order from disorder and to shape function into
art.
