The Music Department
Traditionally, the scientist has been looked upon as a man concerned only with
his
own narrow field of endeavor. He has been thought to be oblivious to the "finer
things
in life."
Tech
recognizes the error of this assumption. It is for this reason that Tech is
especially
proud of its creative Music Department under Mr. Garter.
During
his freshman year, the Technite learns of music as being the universal
language. He
studies the techniques, expressions, and interpretations of the works
of
the great
masters. He becomes acquainted with operas, symphonies and con–
certos. Slowly but
surely, he learns to understand and appreciate good music.
In addition, the
Music Department provides creative opportunities for students
with instrumental or
vocal talent in either the Glee Club, the Dance Band or the
Orchestra.
