of
Returning to life after being
declared dead was the
encouragement needed by one
sophomore to pursue a singing
career.
Naomi Howard, frequently
known as Charlye, and who
experienced the phenomenon
of life after death in surgery
two years ago, became the
lead female vocalist in the
rock band, 5th St. Exit last
fall.
Previously, she was a
186/Sophomores
member of a band composed
of friends and the Steel River
Band.
Concerning her decision on
singing as her career. Naomi
explained, " Singing is the only
thing I really wanted to do in
my whole life." The hospital
experience taught her to think
about life and how quickly "it
could be taken away."
With an average of three
weekly performances during
the fall , Naomi found time to
her career
enjoy her favorite hobbies,
drawing and drag racing.
Early in the fall , Naomi
suffered what she called a
" disappointment" concerning
the davancement of her
career. Rumors persisted that
she was to be invited to sing
with well-known band, LeRoux.
However. the promise turned
out to be the result of a
friend who pulled a hoax.
