Housing one of the best

equipped kitchens in Northeast

Louisiana, the WMHS Home

Economics Department offered

a wide selection of courses

which were aimed at home

and social growth.

"'Everyone should have

some basic knowledge about

cooking and sewing," said

Miss Leneva Washington.

The kitchen in the

department had many features

Home ec. houses one of

'best-equipped' kitchens

more advanced than in

average homes. Students

learned cooking skills on

several types of stove

surfaces- gas, electric, and a

new ceramic top range.

Microwave cooking was an

advanced feature offered to

the students. Many students

did not have microwave ovens

in their homes, but microwave

cooking may be the only

mode of cooking in the future.
