Winter Sports Club Cross Country The first athletic championship of the year came to Cheyenne High School on October 5 when Coach Jim Murphy's cross country squad won the state title in a meet held in Loramie on October 5. Participating in the meet were teams from Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie and Wheatland. Members of the Indian crew in the state contest v.ere Pittman, Richie, Elder, DeBuse and Shafer, The Tribe's Phil P ittman set the pace of the long distance run and won with a time of 11:53.6. He was followed by Mitchael of Casper. All five on the CHS squad finished among the first ten. Others who competed during the season on the Capitol-City squad were Ron White, Don White, Lloyd Green, Jake O'Hashi and Ken Merklin. Front : DeBuse, Elder, R1chie, O ' Hoshi, lltlerklm.
