ATHLETIC ACTRESSES The Girls Athletic Association organiza– tion functions to give girls a better interest in athletics. The club's main purpose is to teach girls better sportsmanship. The year was begun with the initiation of new members. The initiation, which was held during school, proved to be quite humorous. In the evening a party was given to welcome new members. Sports chairmen were elected to organize teams and set up a schedule for tournament games. The first sport scheduled for the year was volleyball, set up by Carol Wettengel. Ping-pong followed with Sue Beggs being sports chairman. Basketball held everyone's attention. Barbara Gretzinger was sports chairman. She arranged an excellent sched– ule for tournament play. Seventy The G. A. A. raised money by selling basketball schedule pencils and giving a post-lenten dance, which many attended. Pleasures for the organization included a hayride chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Heck Mr. and Mrs. Webers, Mr. and Mrs. Cismoski. and the advisor, Miss Loeffler. A lunch and dance followed in the gym. A skating party was also held during the year. Letters were awarded to the girls who had earned their 1,000 points. The G. A. A. had a very successful year due to the capable leadership of our advisor and the co-operation from all of our mem– bers. Officers for the 1952-1953 ear were: President, Joyce Barber· Vice-president. Dor– othy Popeck; Secretary, June Sasse; Treas– urer, Janet Quall.
