THIRD ACT The most eventful and successful year for the Class of '54 started out with the election of class of– ficers. All eyes were on this election as it decided the king of the prom. The juniors wisely chose Dick Smart as president, Marty Splittgerber as vice-presi– dent, and Dorothy Sinkewicz as secretary-treasurer. When the football season got under way, the juniors found their class well represented on the team. Along with the football season came Homecom– ing, which had a great deal in store for the juniors. They were delighted to hear that the:v would be well repre entcd in the homecoming royalty by Dorothy Sinkewicz and Dick Smart, who reigned over the homecoming festivities, and also Mary Zellmer, who was a member of the court. The class was proud to display their float "Cheese Choosers Are Sure Losers" in the homecoming parade. The next big event of the year was the junio.: class play entitled "Our Hearts Were Young and Gay." The cast and crew enjoyed working on it and the plav prov d to be a great succes . Thirty-four Along with the Christmas season came the junior class party. "Jack Frost's Frolic" was chosen as the theme and the gym wa decorated with Jack Frosts and Christmas scenes. Jack Frost was very successful in showing everyone a delightful time. During the basketball season the juniors supplied the team with many fine players. As the year pro– gressed many other juruor fellows participated in such sports as baseball, track, and golf. Throughout the year juniors took an active part in band, orchestra, choir, forensics, F. F. A., F . H. A., G. A. A., and other school organizations. The climax nf the year was the junior prom which was a very brilliant success, due to clever planning and preparation by the class. The theme selected for the prom was "Rhapsody in Blue'' and music was furnished by Harold Fen·on and his orchestra. As the year draws to a close the Class of '54 proudly views its many successful accomplishments and hopes that the following and final year will prove as happy and successful as the past.
