rr--tr hing Band Is Did you ever wonder why people join Marching Band? Maybe it's because they enjoy getting up before the sun to be on the practice field by 6:30A.M., or wearing garbage bags on rainy days, riding school buses for hours on end while trying 100 sitting positions, sleeping on hard gym floors, getting sunburn, wearing wool uniforms when it is 92" We could go on and on but we're sure you've heard them already. What you probably haven't heard about Marching Band are the good things that come out of the program. When you are in Marching Band, you are not just a member, you're part of a family. Many close friendships develop when you spend so much time together. Each person is important, and this is what brings the family together. Each person is important, and this is what brings the family together. There is always someone there for encouragement because everyone shares the common goal of being the best they can possibly be. This is achieved through many long hard hours of planning, composing, designing, compiling, learning, rehearsing, and finally competing. The struggle to meet that common goal can be a hard one. But, when everyone pulls together, it can be accomplished. The band started its season scoring a 69.7 receiving a third at the Indian Marching Band Festival. Through much discipline and desire, the band was able to improve at such a rate as to place 5th at MBA Summer Nationals. With even more persistence they earned a 3rd at the Music Bowl Festival in Chicago, Ill. The band couldn't have ended its season with more pride when the Oregon High School Marching Band was awarded first place at the First W.S.M.A. Wisconsin State Marching Festival. So why do people join Marching Band? The reason is so they can experience that addictingly special, undescriba– ble feeling felt when everything comes together. Congratulations on a fine season and best of luck in the future.
