Great Falls High School 1964 Yearbook (Great Falls, SC) - Full Access

Students and sponsors responsible for publications al– ways spent some v a c a t ion time planning. Rhett Matthews, Mrs. Oakes and Judy Lawing plan the '64 Catawban. Elaine Bell, Sis Wood, Mrs. Rawlinson, Sally Dye, Joanne Rawlinson, Randy Williams, Nancy Gilliam, Pat Tarlton and Lanny Oakes discuss the first issue of the Red Devil. Schedules and more schedules! All 22 teachers, 93 classes, and 560 students! P r inc i p a 1 H. C. Starnes combined these in g red i en t s and came up with a smooth working school day . But what a way to spend a summer! Football games scheduled for early September de– manded numerous daily practices of the band mem– bers . These eager beavers head for the ball field without waiting for the rest of the band to collect music and instruments. The sun is hot! The swimming pool is just behind the trees! But twirling majorettes, Sis Wood, Rhett Matthews, Carol Baker, and Ida Franks, worked doggedly until they perfected their routines for the first football game of the season. Whipping up enthusiasm under an August sun was no laughing matter. But it looks both easy and pleasant for cheerleaders Lois Carter, Peggy Hinson, Ann Lynn, Johnny Ruth Hinson, Phyllis Gallman, Louise May, and Sallie Gladden. 7
