MR. JAMES T. AYRE MR. R. CHESTER WILLIAMS The class of 1954 would like to introduce to you Mr. R. Chester Williams, principal of Senior High School since 1945. A graduate of Taylor High School, Mr. Williams received hi A.B. degree from Pennsylvania State University, and his A.M. degree from Bucknell niversity. Mr. Williams has had teaching experience both at Taylor High School and at We t Pittston High School, where he has given instruction in such subjects as mathematics, physics, chemistry, general science, and mechanical drawing. In addition, he taught mathematics, engineering, and blue-print reading at Pennsylvania State Adult Evening School in Scranton. Through a fellowship awarded by the General Electric Company, he studied electronics and radar at Union College, in Schenectady, during the summer of 1945. Among his hobbies are gardening, poultry raising, and carpentry. He enjoys reading, e pecially non-fiction of the 'scientific type. With esteem we pay tribute to Mr. R. Chester Williams, who capably directed us through our high school years. The camera now focuses upon the director of Junior High School. Mr. Ayre, a graduate of Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, attended Wyoming Seminary for one year. He received his B.S. degree, with majors in mathematics and geography, from Mansfield State Teachers College, and his M.S. degree from Bucknell University. After several years of teaching at Coughlin, Dallas Township, and West Pittston, Mr. Ayre was ad– vanced to the principalship of our Junior High School. He ha been the Director of Adult Education Classes at West Pittston High School, and had the pleasure of being Vocational Guidance Appraiser at Wilkes College. In addition, he has coached the high school track team to victory in eight out of ten seasons. Some of his other interests are photography, swimming, and wood-working. The class of '54 will remember with gratitude our present counselor, Mr. James T. Ayre.
