At the time the yearbook went to pre , prospects looked bright for West Pittston, as we had lost only nine men from last year's team. With many veterans returning, coaches Mr. Ayre, Mr. Rowland, and Mr. Brown hoped to turn out another fine team. Tho e returning for the Green and White were: Tommy Evans and Larry Smith in the 100 and 220; Ralph Dare, in the 440 and broad jump; Mike Dan– kulich and Gordy Williams, in the 0; Bruce Warshal, Cy Bianco, and Fluffy Smile , in the 1 0 low hurdles; Dave Barnes and John Campbell, in the shot put and javelin; Corky Tambur and Bill Yeomans, in the discus; Lloyd Pa– tience, in the broad jump; and Herb Gregory, in the high jump. Our unde– feated half-mile relay team of la t year was partly back, in the persons of Evans and Warshal, although our undefeated mile relay team had only Dare back. The overwhelming victory in the '53 district meet made it eight champion– hip in the last ten years of Cla s B competition. That was our finest year on the cinder oval, as we went through the eason undefeated. The team not
