• ' The Calendar - - Continued Week of February 7 ... Seniors boys are learning to wrestle ; now they'll be throwing it worse than ever. Mrs. Harrison has her English classes write a diary over a period of one week-we'd like to read a few of them. Friday is Lincoln 's birthday, so no school. Week of February 14 . . . Experiments with concentrated sulfuric acid ; yells of 'Tm burned"-(Pearl Davis) "the place is on fire" - (Jane Jackson and Jack Kristianson, "no water-the pipes are froz– en"-('Aboo' Fried) . Needless to say a super cold wave grips our fa ir city; ten below, no less, and Miss Roberts, our nurse, is kept busy thawing out inmates-pardon– students. The musical, 'The Black and White Phantasy: is given before a packed house . Everyone agrees that it is really tops-nice going Glee Club, orchestra, stage crew, etc. Victory Corp emblems are a– warded to the Senior Class ; Captains are Joe Wende (40 1) Ed Ras (402) , Le Smith (403) , John Behm (311), Eugene Roebuck (4 13), Teresa Wielgosh (315) , and Walter Zawilsky (316) who were chosen by their respective homerooms . The goal of the Victory Corps is 100 per cent enlistment of the school. Under the supervision of Mr. Lloyd, a program is presented in honor of George Washington; the members of this group were Pete r Margo, Jane Lynch, Bernadine Opet, Joe Wende, and Francis Bekampis. Full week, eh? • Week of February 21 ... No school but the Band plays at the dedica– tion of an honor board on Empire Street. Worries galore, where can I get shoes for graduation. - This is caused by shoe rationing. Week of February 28 . . . Charlie arrives and students have such fun getting out of classes legally to have their pictures taken. Week of March 7 In order to raise money for an Honor Roll Board in the Heights, Mr. Casey sponsors a minstrel show, which is given in our auditor– ium. Chern students make nitric acid ; Miss Utz's hopes for little damage are shattered as are numerous retorts. No casualties. Aeronautics students are learning naviga– tion and some of them are out of this world (bad pun) The Navy offers special training to those boys who take and make a good grade in a test they will take ; the boys are brought in to the auditorium to have it explained to them; this program (V-12) is to produce naval officers- Students are en– tertained by a real Indian (from India, we mean); Mr. J Venayak Bhambal tells us of Indian customs and then shows slides about his country. They' re up, they're clown, they're ahead, now behind and here comes the winner: it's 301, they've beat 302 in tin collection, (it was close though). Sevent'l'Scven
