/ As future world leaders, high school students should acquire as broad a ' background in world affairs as possible. One of the best means of gain– ing this knowledge is through membership in a language club. Through the four clubs active at Redstone, students supplement their knowledge of the basic language with a knowledge of the people, geog– raphy, and culture of the country whose native tongue is being studied. With an increased understanding for the other nations in the world, international relations can be strengthened. If one realizes the great debt in art, music, and science owed to European coun– tries, many of the barriers caused by petty and biased differences can be removed. This realiza– tion can lead to true and lasting peace.
