Athletics, a vital phase in the life of the American youth, as– sume an important role at Red– stone. Besides brightening school life and giving the obvious phy– sical and health merits, sports develop character and stimulate the mind. In all types of interscholastic sports, the Black H awks learn fair play, cooperation, self-disci– pline, and the true meaning of competition. Sideline, student spectators find their blood pres– sure rising and their hearts pounding during moments of breathless anticipation in many a game. When the contests are over, the student body upholds the team in sportsmanlike de– meanor. Whether the boys win. lose, or tie, they back the team wholeheartedly. Conscious of this unfailing loyalty, the Hawks strive to bring honor and glory to the halls of Redstone High. New additions to the trophy cases are lasting reminders of their fine accomplishments. Through sports, participants develop physical and mental alertness; spectators learn the true meaning of school spirit The highest official of our land has said, "If it were not for the athletics in our country, the American youth would decay." Believing this to be true, admin– istrators, faculty, and students work together to give Redstone the best sports program possible.
