Bensalem Township HS 1950 Yearbook (Cornwells Heights, PA) - Full Access

OUR HISTORY What fond recollections we have of our Freshman year! We were primed for a good time and loads of fun . Remember? We had rather b ;g ideas about how things were going to be, but we soon discovered how mistaken we were and tamed down to a more dignified way of life. How very proud we were of our representa– tion in the school play, A Date with Judy. The end of our first year found us well pleased with our growing importance and impatiently awaiting our Sophomore year. When we returned as Sophomores, we were delighted to welcome a group of new pupils into our midst. We progressed well with our class activities under the able supervision of our advisors-Mrs. Stratton, Mr. Slaven, and Mr. Hege. Additional dramatic talent was disclosed, we were happy to see, when some of our classmates helped to produce the school play, We Shook the Family Tree. What is more, our class was also well repre– sented in the various athletic activities. Strangely enough, the year sped by more quickly than we had expected; and before we knew it, we were ready to assume the title of Juniors. During our Junior year, our advisors were Miss Moskaluk and Mr. Hege. Our class was instrumental, to a great ex– tent, in helping to win the Lower Bucks County Footba11 Co-Champion:&hip in '48. Our girls showed good form on the softball and hockey fields, helping to win the Softball Champion– ship and taking second place in the hockey circuit. The sparkling highlight of the fall season was the Junior Prom, Moon Mist, which proved to be a very exciting and successful social affair. The last big item on our program for the year was our sport dance, which was called the "Graduation Dance" in honor of the Seniors. We made a majestic return trip to school as Seniors and were duly welcomed by our class advisors, Miss Moskaluk and Mr. Struble. The arrival of our class rings was the first big event in what we hoped would continue to be a very eventful year. Luck was on our side. What could be more gratifying than the knowledge that members of our class contributed much toward the winning of the Lower Bucks County Football Championship! The girls,. too, made a fine showing this year on the hockey field, being nosed out of first place by half a game. Our first dance was a sport dance called the "Varsity Drag." The Senior play, The Haunted High School, was· the most financially successful play pre– sented at Bensalem in several years. The audience found it a thoroughly entertaining mystery-comedy. Next came the long-awaited class trip to Washington. What fun we had and how reluct– antly we left that historic city Our last social event at Bensalem was, of course, the Senior Prom-a memorable even– ing of music, dancing, and gaiety. And now that our activities have come to an end, we sincerely hope that our class will be remembered for any contributions it may have made in raising the fame and prestige · of our school. 25
