Howland High School 1961 Yearbook (Warren, OH) - Full Access
A SONG IS MORE LASTING THAN A CAPPELLA As the sixth period bell rings , the A Cap- pella once again races to their seats in room 113 to begin another hour of vocal practice: the gentle voice of Mrs. Polly is raised to quiet the roar of the members. This is the group that each year puts on such fine musical programs as "She is one of the Boys," this year 's operetta. Each year this group puts on a fine show but this year they outdid themselves with a fine comedy fea- turing Lee Selby and Shirly Stein. Soon after the annual operetta and the yearly candy sale, the A Cappella begins practicing for the music contest in which they have always done very well. When the feverish rehearsals and the contest are once again over, the group again enjoys a short lull until it is once again t ime to get ready for their part of graduation ceremonies.
