"Twenty-five cents a week is enough for a boy your age!" Under the direction of Mr. Jack Burton, the Senior dass in November, 1965 presented Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, Ottr Town. Mr. Wilder's play suggests that people really do not know how to live life to its fullest. They do not appreciate each situation they face daily for the uniqueness which it contains. Emily and George discuss their differences over ice cream sodas. The choir practic-es in the background. Emily helps George with his algebra. Each of these scenes is an everyday happening. But the stage manager takes us aside and tells us that these situations are significant, and that taken apart from the fast-moving hum-drum of life, each is unique in its own way. The entire story of Emily, Editor Webb's daughter, and George, Doctor Gibbs' son, takes place in the small town of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. George and Emily grow up together-George as the best baseball pbyer Grover's Corners has ever seen, and Emily as the smartest pupil. They marry and live together a few short years. Then Emily dies in childbirth and is taken to Grover's Corners' cemetery. However, Mr. Wilder has one more trick to use in his play. He brings Emily back to life in a touching but ruthless scene in which he wrings the last bit of pity from us as Emily realizes with despair that she has not lived her life to its fullest. The relief of a closing and the first pangs of memory. 136 Our presented class 0 R TOW Produced and Directed by Jack C. Burton CAST (In the order of their appearance) Stage Manager . .. ......
