With at least one letter winner in each event returning to the squad this year, the outlook for the track season is bright. Coaches Hurley and Modica plan to work the team to its capacity, and with the potential that is evident the team could easily place much higher than last year's close third in the D .U.S.O. meet. The strongest events will probably be in distance running, for these events are manned by the best mem– bers of our championship cross country team: John Tweedy, George Brocco, Jeff May, Ron Wilson and Frank Hample. Other veteran runners in the shorter distances are Dick Plaatsman, Jim Hogan, Greg Munson, John Stockwell and Brian Elmendorf. The field events, headed by co-captain Mike Burns in the shot and discus, also have Joe Darwak, Charles Newton, John Sullivan, Mickey Bush, Bill Buddenhagen and Jay Hogan. The weakest segment of the team is the sprints. Leon Hanna is the best prospect, with Mac Thayer and Eli Basch backing him up. Also returning from last year's squad are hurdlers Larry Flowers, Sam Fratoni, and co-captain Joe Esposito. 1965 SCHEDULE April 27 Tuesday Arlington Home 30 Friday Middletown Home May 3 Monday Lourdes Away 6 Thursday Poughkeepsie Home 8 Saturday New Paltz Relays 12 Wednesday Newburgh Home 18 Tuesday Saugerties Home 29 Saturday DUSO Track Meet at Middletown June 5 Saturday Section 9 Track Meet 12 Saturday Inter-Section Track Meet at Cornell 125
