Making bids for the final spot on the starting foursome are Ed Shirick, Jordan Pauker, and Dave Blake– ly. This year's squad was selected from the largest turnout of prospective candidates in over a decade. The team will again be playing its home matches at Twaafskill Country Club, to which the team is in– debted for its fine facilities and cooperation. Tennis Tennis has long been known as the royal game. Perhaps it is because of our school's flagrant lack of royalty that tennis fortunes at Kingston High have been so low in recent yeArs. Although it is likely that the 1965 K.H.S. tennis team will still be a little short of kings or even counts, it has been blessed with the next best thing; that is, talent. This talent will be coupled with its great catalyst, experience, in the rackets of four returning letter winners: Tom Krom, Bill Haltermann, Bill Boyd, and Frank Kruszenski. Should one of the top four falter, Bruce Sumber and Dave Roberts will both be ready to fill a team berth capably. One returnee who definitely will not slip is Tom Krom, the captain and team ace, who is far and away the class of a fine team. Now a senior, Tom is already a three time letter winner and was a mem– ber of the Section Nine doubles champion– ship team when only a sophomore. The only two players in the league who had his number last year have graduated, and he will probably be able to sail undefeated through league play. The other team members also did a fine job last year as they compiled a good 8-4 record, and all have improved considerably since last season through large doses of practice. The members of this year's tennis team will, in fact, have everything going for them except one thing- somebody to watch them play. 123
