Row 2: Coach Connie Lyke, Cathy Hillery, Colleen Hillery, Donna Cirillo, Shannon Osborne, Claudia Vollmer, Maiji Honkola, Diane Wagner, Mary Edwards, Eileen Mulholland, Lori Jorgensen, Coach Judy Pickert. Girls Cross Country The Girl's Cross Country Team, headed by Ms. Pickert and Ms. Lyke got off to a great start. The team worked hard and practiced with much devotion and dedication. The team went all the way to sectionals where they took top places. They can be proud of their achievements in their first year. The Mahopac girls distinguished themselves as Section 1 Champions by defeating all other Section 1 schools including the favored Yorktown team. This season has exemplified many of the benefits of athletics for all of us. The girls have learned a great deal about them– selves-about the results of dedication and work. Many have learned how to accept disappointments and in– juries, and how to be gracious winners. This has been a team of winners, not because they were sectional champions but because every girl Improved and moved toward her potential. 1£?
