Stu– dent travelers, returning from Europe and South America, showed slides and pictures to language clas'ses. Along with the continued use of the ALM lan– guage program and language laboratory, Fre nch classes developed a greater continuity between the junior and senior high. Beginning courses in French, German, Spanish, and Latin studied conversation, grammar, and reading comprehension in preparation for advanced classes. The French 4 class read The Three Musketeers, Les Miserables, L'Etrange, and several French peri– odicals. German students, in contrast, read short stories, while Cicero and Ovid Sallust captured the attention of Latin 3 pupils.
