Dedication We, the graduating class of 1963, mindful of all the people and events that have given Eastwood High School its position and influence in the community, wish to dedicate this year's Hilltopper to Eastwood High School's past. The Union Free School of the town of Dewitt, February 24, 1916, marked the beginning of Eastwood High School's history On June 21, 1921, this school gradu– ated its first class of five members. Eastwood became a high school under the Boord of Regents on January 3, 1924, and in September of 1926 it was incorporated as port of the Syracuse Public School System. The construction of the present building was begun in 1922. It contained six– teen classrooms and on office. Within the next two years the gym and the audito– rium were added and by 1931 the school was completed in its present layout. More important than the building, however, ore those who hove given East– wood its fair name: the school's two principals, Charles F Todd (1920-1955) and Robert W Oliver (1955-1963), the school's two vice-principals, John V Meath and Robert Giambattista, the faculty, the office secretarial staff, Zelda Stockham and Eunice Lockwood, the Eastwood High School Community Association, the war vete– rans, the honor students, the athletes, and the all-around students. From this cohesive core Eastwood's commendable post was fashioned . It is therefore our wish that Eastwood High School's post and the memories that it holds for us may never be forgotten. 2
