North High School January 1941 Yearbook (Syracuse, NY) - Guest Access

DEDICATION We wish to extend our thanks to Mr. Avery, head of the Mathematics Department at North. Besides proving himself a great asset to our faculty, he has done much to educate the students. His method is to make the pupils realize that it is for their own benefit that they must do their share of the work. Although his knowledge of mathematics is so vast that his textbooks are accepted and used by many schools, those who know him earnestly contend that his knowledge of psychology and human nature equals, and probably exceeds, his ability in his vocation. It is obvious to all that mathematics isn't directly associated with the supreme science, psychology, but for several decades Mr. Avery has proved that his subjects should be taught with the use of psychology. ~
