Dedication
Now associated by seniors with guidance in selecting a college and in applying
for scholarships, he is Director of College Guidance, c:onduc:ting the City's largest
college guidance service, helping the senior attain numerous financial awards of great
value, notifying him of college news and scholarship opportunities through weekly
bulletins, and reporting to colleges on many applicants for scholarships. Muc:h has
been said and muc:h is still needed to be said about this dedicated man, who feels
that the guidance work is not complete until it is extended to prepare juniors for
eventual college admission.
And what does he think of Tec:h? "Naturally, I'm prejudiced. I think the Tec:hnite
is more realistic: than most high school students. And I do know that Tec:h has a'
widespread excellent reputation.
"It is good to know that even today our boys are suc:c:essful in gaining admis–
sion to college. It is very gratifying eac:h spring to learn how many Tec:h boys have
received financial aid to help defray their college expenses. In recent years there
has been another source of satisfaction; reports from college on our graduates who
receive fellowships, grants from foundations, and other aids for graduate study. These
results convince me that my efforts have been worthwhile."
Rarely do you find a man so devoted to his work that he will give of himself,
his time, effort, and experience for students. An arrival at Tech in February 1926
as an English teacher, he later became adviser to the Handbook, the Survey, the
Blueprint, and the Reporter's Club. As Honorary President of the General Organ–
ization, he instituted Tech's Intramural Sport's Program.
Because no one else deserves our greater gratitude, we hereby dedicate this
June 1966 Blueprint, to a miln who hils li!vished forty yeilrs of service on Brooklyn
Tec:h-Mr. Howilrd Gi!rrett.
