Through their constant efforts, we have the fine teachers and facilities of today in Cortland High School. The Board of Education Office at 31 Court Street is the hub of school activity, where much vital executive work of our public schools is done. ELIZABETH F. ROCHE Vice-Principal Miss Elizabeth Roche is one of the busiest faculty members in Cortland High School. Besides being Senior Class adviser, she finds time to assist underclassmen in selecting their activities. Moreover, she aids Dr Doran in his administrative duties. Gratitude for her unselfish sacrifices is difficult to express. 7 DR. ROBERT J. DORAN Principal Few people realize how fully an educational institution depends upon an active, capable, well-liked principal. A school without such a leader lacks strength and direction. We wish to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Doran for setting and maintaining such high standards for the students and faculty of Cortland High School.

Faculty Speech, grammar, dramatics, and literature, all necessities in our lives, whether we become engineers, doctors, secretaries, housewives or garage mechanics, are taught in English classes. Poise in public speaking is learned, and practice is received by means of symposiums and speeches. Then, through the knowledge of the post and of other peoples, one may discover how to better apply thot which he has learned in becoming a more useful citizen.
