A Pope had indeed been elected, but the world could only speculate as to what kind of man he was and to what extent he would carry out the work started by the beloved Pope John XXIII. Even in his short reign, Pope Paul VI has shown he is a man of courage, determination and tremendous foresight. Striving to update the Church, Paul VI has generated a new spirit of progress and renewal which culminated in his recent trip to the Holy Land.
