4 Dedication: Mrs. Gladys Piech The Whitney Point Central School District is fortunate in having Mrs . Gladys Piech as a member of its professional teaching staff. Mrs. Piech presently instructs physical education in the elementary grades. Born and raised in the Whitney Point area, Mrs. Piech received her degree and teaching credentials from Cortland State. She has spent most of her teaching career in the Whitney Point school district. Our school system rightly prides itself in our strong physical education program of which Mrs. Piech has been instrumental in developing. Reflection on our "younger days way back when" fondly brings to mind " gym classes" and the pleasant presence of Mrs . Piech. The mother of one daughter, Pamela, Mrs. Piech lives in the school district with her husband Nick . With pride and pleasure, we honor Mrs. Piech with the dedication of this edition of the EAGLE, and wish her continued success in her teaching career .

Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Nancy Abbott By a committee composed of teachers, administrators, and students, Mrs . Nancy Abbott was selected as the Teacher of the Year for the academic year 1980-81. Presently a First Grade Teacher, Mrs . Abbott has taught in the elementary grades of the Whitney Point Central School District for many years. Her dedication and enthusiasm are always evident in the pleasant and positive atmosphere she creates in her classroom. Through a strong sense of professionalism tempered with charm and wit, Mrs . Abbott provides the proof that learning can be fun . Faculty and students share a pride in knowing and working with Mrs . Abbott. The wife of Harlow Abbott, Mrs. Abbott is the mother of two children, John and Ann. 5

6 Retiree: Mrs. Iva Colgan Mrs . Iva Colgan retired this year after many fine years of serving as a school secretary. Too often we fail to appreciate the dedicated efforts of school personel who play a vital role in the efficient operation of the system. Every student, every teacher, and every administrator will surely miss Mrs. Colgan and her unselfish loyalty to the school system. On behalf of everyone associated with the school district, we wish Mrs. Colgan a healthy and happy retirement .

Retiree: Mrs. Ruth Moyer After many years of serving the school district as a secretary in the main office of the Senior High, Mrs. Ruth Moyer has retired . One of Mrs. Moyer's many duties was as switchboard operator, no easy task in view of the volume of phone calls the school district receives and sends. (How well Mrs. Moyer will remember "snow days!") On behalf of everyone in the school district we thank Mrs. Moyer for her service and warm friendliness, and wish her an enjoyable retirement. 7
