The r ali~ation that many familiar face will be ab-;ent from the ranks of the organization is a ad one, and so in this last issue of th~ Tiger the Hi-Club would like to pay tribute to graduating seniors of the high school anJ especially to senior members of U~e . Cl71b. Everv on of them, no matter how m. tgnlf1- cant ·his contribution, has been a driving forn in tht• nMchinc•·y of our club. We thank them for their fine Rupport and wi. h them lot of good fortun in the years lo come. Till Hi-Club program has been a full one; therefore a brief summary of the more im– portant evl•nts might prove inl resting. Here it is: Tloe yea1 starlet! with membership un ur– pa. sed in the entire histot·y of the club, over ·~oo bo\. becoming- memb rs. The. membership in manv of the acth:itie:< doubled and in some instances even tnpled the bowling and rifle clubs ha,•ing the greate. t nu 11ber. The big Atlanta dance honoring the Atlanta football team wa~ staged \'err , ucce. sfully. TJ-;e pen Forum, airplane and radio club:; were added to the club's already long list of activities. The "All u-E :\fight" dance in Novemb r honored the pigskin toters of the annual Tur– ke\ Dav clas. ic. Wl1at could be more memor· abie-a· qu en wa. crowned! Speed kalin~ under Charles Iarlak was an attraction added to th other activities. Bowling and skating were tak n over by the high school athletic association. A real h01.or for thl' Hi-Club. The high spot of th year came with the annual Block U-E Banquet at which all -E athletes were feted and honored. Coach "Slee'ly" Jim Crowley of Fordham was the speake~· of the evening. On~ of the su;rpri. es of the e\·ening was the awardmg of cerbficat s by Herbert H. Ctumb, uperintendent of chools, to the U-E football team of 1!12::!. Certificates were not given in those days, but the boys e\'entually received them seventeer. years later. This about concluded the program for the vear but one important event still r main•. f'or 'those numerous p ople who live to eat rather than vice versa, this C\'ent should prove intere.ting. On J une 1st the last Hi-Club meeting of the year will be held for wh~ch an unu ·ually interesting program of entertam– ment i being planned. In clo ing it is fitting that we should thank our :::Iub-advi ors, tephen Salmon and hu; assistants, Harold L . Baine and J . Donaln k Queen, as well as the directors of t~c activities of the Hi-Club, for their leader, h1p in directing the club and it activities.
