It was obvious from the start that our Long Suit would be defense and that our team would be the least ex– perienced offe~Jse and smallest in U-E History, since the PROUD TIGER Defense had nine solid starters (Including third year starters "Moose" Longo, "Kazzie ,"and Kocur} and the Offense had only a lone return– ing starter, Beaver Shirley. Under the leadership of the Head Tiger, Frqn Angeline, his Staff, and Captain Mike Longo, another AWESOME MACHINE was in the makings as our defending champs rolled through the first four games. Then perhaps due to many adversities such as: the shattering injury of the HEART of the team, Captain Longo; continued flooding; breakdown of the hot water system in the locker room; and the crippling school crisis, DISASTER struck. A fine Binghamton team came to town and played a superb game After one of the MOST CONTROVERSIAL calls on League History, the PROUD TIGERS were denied a field goal. However, after this game the Tigers ANNIHA LA TED Erie East, Pa., then went on to defeat CV before meeting the best team in Vesta I' s history (and ranked number one In New York). These young men carried their HEADS HIGH, and gave it their BEST SHOT. In 17 games, over a two year period, these mer ro lied up 534 points, while allowing only 161 points, a feat that wi II perhaps never be matched. Because of all the diversities, Coach Angeline concluded: "This was the most COURAGEOUS group of Young Men with whom I have ever been associated. We are so VERY PROUD of them!" 194/Activities
