The world of marketing and manage– ment await it youth in DECA (An As– ociation of Marketing tudent ) mem– ber excel to represent Del Norte High chool. tudents who would like to learn more about the bu ine world, and who would like to start their own bu ine , take DECA a a cour e at Del Norte. DECA i offered as a full year cour e and can be taken for up to 3 year . For tho e active and academic achiever , tudents can earn chords for graduation and po - sibly letters. Mrs. Judie Dwyer, Del Norte DECA advisor for the 1993-94 school year, came to Del Norte fre h from the University of New Mexico, knowing little about DECA or what it represents. Mrs. Dwyer has tried extremely hard and has done just about everything she po sibly could to make Del Norte DECA the best mar– keting Education clas in existence. What i expected in DECA students is to fulfill per onal goals as well as cla goals, and to attain a high academic grade in marketing a to learning the mi– nor and major 15 business tasks needed to begin a bu ine . DECA students have the ability and choice of running and attaining an office held at the DECA Chapter level at Del Norte. This helps student to become more succe sful and gain self-e teem. Marketing Education, in a ense, is sharing, opportunity, competition, and ucce all in one, which is attained through DECA. It help gain the pride we po sess in making things happen. tudents learn the concept of market– ing, and al o choo e a pecific area of tudy to complete with the knowledge in which they have gained through DECA during district, tate, and national com– petition . Di trict wa held at the Al– buquerque Convention Center, in Jan– uary. tate was held at the Downtown Marriott Hotel 2 days in March. Na– tionals were in Detroit, Michigan in April. This competition is the mo ten– joyable of them all. tudents gain pride, elf-esteem, integrity, laughs, friend– hip , knowledge and excitement from the entire funfilled week in Michigan. The e competition are loads of fun and tudent gain the experience needed to ucceed in life and their career. Building a DECA Chapter takes years of hard work and great knowledge about the program. There are about 142,080 members na– tionwide, who are intere ted and in– volved student . Mo t of the student will actually continue to pur ue a career in the marketing world, with the aid of D.N.H.S. DECA leading them down their yellow brick road to ucce .
