Felishia De Vargas strives her hardest during prac– tice. c t c 0 e r r Y Two years ago, Del Norte girls soccer did not exist due to the lack of players. Last year, a new teacher to Del Norte, Holly New– man, was willing to help and support the girls and try to make the best out of what the team had to offer. This past year, not only was the team just starting over, but another dras– t ic change evolved and the girls' received a new, yet experienced coach, Marcus Favero, an assistant coach from the previous year. Fav– ero tried his best and gave the girls as much as he could possibly give. Since the team was young, Favero set his mind on years to come and to make of what he had this year, and then go from there. This years' team con– sisted of three seniors, 1 junior, 9 sophomores and 4 freshmen. To– gether, they worked Chris y Borrowdale goes for a corner kick. well as a team and had an awesome season! The Lady Knights had a tough time be– cause they were in a fairly tough district which changed this year. "Even though we may not have been a very skillful team, we tried hard, and overall we had a blast!", said senior Juliet Casey. The girls had a lot of dedication and deter– mination which brought the team to– gether. All the girls did well considering their time spent playing to– gether. Later in the season the Lady Knights showed work– ing together as a team in the games against Rio Grande and May– field, at Mayfield. THEY WON!! The three seniors were ex– tremely grim upon leaving, but are hope– ful and optimistic for the girls in the future! By Colleen Elvidge "What's going through my mind? 1,2,3,4,5 KICK!!"
