Learning About Law What is it called when a group of students decide to act a part of the democratic society that governs our country? Here at Del Norte, it is called Youth in Govern– ment. This is a club that in– teractively learns all about the law making process of adem– ocratic society. In February, the members of Youth in Government trav– eled to Santa Fe and held a mock legislature in the round– house. Serving as state sena– tors or state representatives, students wrote bills and then Travis Beeman, Patrick Matthew , and Claire Gogal argued for their passage; some other students served as newspaper reporters and cov– ered the legislative sessions. Anybody can join Youth and Government. The spon– sor is Dr. Susan Roberts and the meetings were held Thursdays at lunch in room 110.
