Drug Free Is The Way To Be Peer Educators are a group of en– thusiastic students who believe in a drug and alcohol free environment. These teenagers are prepared to do whatever it takes to encourage stu– dents not to do drugs. They try to make their seminars exciting and fun by performing skits. Some of the peer educators were trained at St. Pius at a two-day work– shop where they learned information on the task of persuading younger students on the misuse of drugs and alcohol. Other peer educators were trained at the East Area Office where they learned the technique of break– ing a board with their band. Wher– ever the peer educators were trained there was always fun to be had and students from other schools to meet. Sponsor Mrs. O'Toole says, "My peer educators are the best, most highly motivated students on cam– pus. They know how to lead strong, Maria Johns, Mrs. O'Toole, and Claire Gogal happy lives with out substance abuse. Mrs. Blachley (the other sponsor) and I are truly proud of this admirable group of students." Not only is Mrs. O'Toole proud of the peer educators but, "I am also proud of each of the individuals in this group for helping to try to win this war against drugs. I see many future leaders and also a future for our children in the faces of these tre– mendous students. In the 90's the question of using drugs is always lin– gering and the only answer the peer educators can offer is drug free the only way to be."
