Academic Decathlon One extra- curricular activity is Academic Decathlon. The Ac– ademic Decathlon is great for college applications, due to the national prestige of the compe– tition. Academic Decathlon gives students the opportunity to match their academic knowl– edge against other students from around the state. Academic De– cathlon matches A students against other A students, B stu– dents against other B students, and C students against other C students. The team competes in ten different fields of study, such as arts, science, social science, and speech. Decathlon competes in three competitions, a scrimmage No– vember 20, Regionals Febu– aruay 29, and State. Winners can win trophies, medals and even scholarships. Eligibility requirements for Academic Decathlon is being a Junior or Senior with just a 2.0 grade point average. Officers are President, Angelo Gonzales; Vice-president, Kim Ravenscraft; Secretary-Treas– urer, Kelly Hayes. Other mem– bers include Cheryl Garcia, Ste– phanie Garza, Tanya Patterson, Pedro Bonano, and Antonio Courtney. Members of the Academic Decathlon at the Winter sports assembly.
