The Concert Band enjoys national recognition in First Chair of America, a national yearbook featuring school bands that have been selected for their excellence in concert performances. This group gives several concerts each year, sponsors an annual two state band clinic, participates in state band contest, and makes a tour of other schools in Mississippi and Louisiana. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble, a smaller group selected from the Concert Band, performs for civic clubs, makes television tapes, and is called upon whenever the entire Concert Band cannot be used. 93
