Practice-is jumping into water that feels ice cold • • • doing 50 laps of warm-up, trying to dodge people and once in a while getting hit by a flying hand ••• getting helpful comments from the coaches, "pull harder," ''higher on that dive," and "keep going girls. " Meets are tense and exciting ••• when all the practice pays off. M- ter you try your absolute hardest, you feel happy, but if you don"t try, you've lost that chance.
