68 Roosevelt Involved With The Community Operation Christmas Basket celebrated its sixth year of delivering well-rounded Christmas dinners to needy families in the community. The operation collected over $975 from individual donations, along with gener- ous contributions from Blue Tri and Stu- dent Council. All of this made possible a grand total of eighty-six baskets. The students and the faculty worked to- gether to collect the money, sort the food, and deliver the baskets. The ma- jority of the food went to Roosevelt families. Mr. Freeman Mcinroy, who has been the chief instagator of the op- eration since it began, said 11 as far as I'm concerned, It's one of the greatest unifying factors in the school. It shows that everyone really cares. 11 Mr. Mcinroy led yet another benefical project for Roosevelt student Rick Mil- ler, who was seriously injured in a ac- cident last summer. Raffle tickets, a pie eating contest, along with a very successful benefit dance 1 all went to- gether to raise $5400. Entertainment for the dance was provid- ed by 'CENTRE STAGE', and Brad Vat- sas, who played guitar and sang during a break. Near the latter part of the dance, the many wonderful prizes which were donated by several community compan- ies, were raffled off. The pie eating contest was held in the auditorium. A twentyfive cent admission was the price to watch participants - - Barb Baxter, Cindy Bendik, Karin Sch- luck1 Mark Brady, Jose Luciano, and Ross Anderson, get smothered with whip cream. These very successful benefit projects genuinely reflect the attitudes of the Roosevelt student body.
