These demanding, tiring daily workouts are dull and tedious, but es- sential for good performance. When the snow flies, the team hits the slopes. Meets and practices continue through March at Hyland Hills in Bloomington. This year Captain Wade Arms ranked as number one slalom skier in the city and among the top three in the state. His young brother, Ward, only a 7th grader has been our nwnber two racer most of the season. Skiers at Roosevelt have a fine, winning tradition which the team continued this year. The girls' ski team was strengthened by 9th grader, Mary Brown. She was the first team member to place among the top ten racers in the city this year. These hardy women skiers continued their runs down the slopes every week all winter. Sometimes the unusual frigid temperatures, the driving snows, and the gusty winds almost conquered the team, but they held out to com lete the
