The Jack defeated both Duluth a t 16-14 and Den– feld 41-6 in a downpour of rain, to capture a berth in the uper Bowl. Junior halfback, Dennis Carl on, carried the ball 122 time , gaining 766 yards with an average of 6.2 yard for each attempt. The leading pa re– cetver was John Palkie with 15 reception . Both Greg Kujawa and Dave Huebner tallied three inter– ception for the Jacks. teve Smith led in coring with nine touchdown . teve carried the ball 52 times for 300 yard and an average of 5.7 yard . Senior guard Jim Johan on wa given a place on the Minne ota All-State Football Team. The ea on wa capped-off with a typical team effort victory over Hibbing in the Prep uper Bowl 14-8.
