Rifle Club Mr. Barklay instructs young sharpshooters. Club members practice for meets. Scores Again 60 The Rifle Club achieved two main goals this year. It trained its members in the safety of handling fire arms, and afforded the opportunity for qualified boys to shoot in competition. The highlight of the year came on March 1 when the club sponsored a sectional rifle meet at the University of Michigan's R.O.T.C. range. About 150 individual shooters and 25 teams participated in this match, some traveling from Cadillac and Grand Haven in order to compete. The Club's sponsor is Mr. Charles Barclay. The club this season shot for National Rifle Association ratings as well in matches. Mem– bers who fired in prone or four-position matches include: Seniors, Jim Bader and John Thomp– son, Juniors, Jim Benton and Robert Howe, and Sophomores, Russell Hough, Jim Thelan, Larry Botsford, Karl Lagler, Don Mealeon, Gerry Yax, and Ron Lutz. Riflemen learn to shoot in prone position.
