Gardiner, Whitman's Junior Varsity carved out a moderately suc– ce sful campaign under the leadership of Coach Ron Peters. The team had many excellent players, ten of whom received experience in varsity competition. Opening the season with a tight game, the well-conditionea JV football squad queaked past Blair 13-12. The baby Vikings were oon rudely awakened to the harsh reality of defeat when Gaithersburg out cored Whitman 6-0; Richard Montgomery mashed the JV Vikings 19-0. Whitman dogged– ly battled Wheaton for a 0-0 stalemate. Again ta ting defeat, Whitman lost to Walter Johnson 12-0 and to orthwood 25-0. Viking hunger for victory was finalJy satisfied when Whitman's JV bashed B-CC 20-6.
