Stuco: The Organization That's For Everyone 70 Student Council began their busy year in July by putting in many hours of hard work into re-doing the Student Lounge. In the later part of the month, the council sent four officers to workshop at Emporia for a week. Stuco also attended work- shops at Colby and Phillipsburg 1 and hosted Eastern Heights for a day. The council adjusted well to the new sponsor, Principal Robert King, who commented that he was 1 1 Much impressed with the excellent lead- ership and responsibility demon- strated by the members. 1 feel Stuco is truly involved in the school and is more than just an organiza- tion by name. Stuco is concerned with the well being of the students and has helped to improve relations within the school. Student Council once again took the initiative to organize a Fresh- man Orientation, and provide the students with the annual Indoor Olympics. Stuco kept the students dancing by assisting in Homecoming, Winter Glacade, and sponsoring a sock hop. Class Competition inspired spirit throughout the year by providing classes with points for the most en- thusiasm. Stuco purchased a plaque to keep record of the overall class 1 with the Juniors, class of 79 being the first. The most challenging event the organization accomplished was the first National Domestic Student Ex- change. Cindy Dugan, Cindy Han- cock, Pat Hageman, and Joel Su- merall, along with Jim Stanley as sponsor, exchanged with two stu- dents and a sponsor from Atlanta , Louisiana. The program enabled students to tour new sites and study other school atmospheres in another part of the country. Other activities included present- ing faculty members with flowers on their birthdays, organizing Thanks- giving, Christmas 1 and Easter as- semblies, and sponsoring the annual Cardinal Day. Webster Lake was the setting for the Student Council's last project, as the group ended the year with a picnic for all the members. Compliments Of PLAINVILLE HIGH SCHOOL STUCO
