Plainville Rural High School 1978 Yearbook (Plainville, KS) - Full Access
Indoor Olympics Promote New School Year 1 'Big, strong, mighty, and great. We're the class of '78. 11 11 Beer, liquor, bourbon, wine. We 1 re the class of 1 79. 11 ' '10, 20, 30, 40, 80 or more. No one can compare with a sophomore . ' 1 11 Freslunan, Freslunan. Number One. Since we 1 re the class of 1 81. 11 The year was off to another roaring start as each class tried to make their slogan heard above all the others at the 1977 Indoor Olympics. It was the duty of our faithful runners 1 Mr. Hiser and Miss Park, to keep that fire going. No freslunan class could match the enthusiasm of the class of 1 81 . But, unfortunately that wasn't enough. It took the skill, exper- ience, and knowledge of how to change the rules a little to put the Seniors on top. They were fol- lowed by the Juniors, who haven't quite yet developed these quali- ties; and the Sophomores 1 who have even farther to go. The Freslunen - well, keep up the good work. Many of the old favorite games and relays returned to test the four classes. Many looked easy 1 but anyone there could tell you how hard it is to hit a badminton birdie into a wastebasket; or knock off a ping-pong ball off a pop bottle by shooting a rubber band at it. But the games weren't all. Hu- man totem poles were erected. Minor fights broke out. Paper was strung everywhere . Banners are tom down. Signs were demol- ished. Sounds like a riot? It may, but it was fun to the students of PHS. And then the time came to pass out ribbons. The placings were revealed and 1 thanks to two members of the Senior class 1 so was Rusty Hrabe. The time had come to close out this year's Olympics. But they aren 1 t over. They never will be. We will all remember the fun and craziness of how 11 We did it our way.' ' COUNTERCLOCKWISE FROM TOP CENTER: Kenny LaDuke and Neal ·Dreher string themselves up in the Silver Spoon Race. It seems like all the Sophomores are telling Bob Dombroski to hit the ball in the basket. Phyllis Kuhn blows the whistle to start the 1977-78 Indoor Olympics. In the Shootout Event Kayla Bobek believes in skill and technique and others just shoot for fun. Bob Rempe assumes the frog position as he blows the ball across the line . The corruption of the school begins in the hands of our principal, Mr. King, as he accepts bribes from Seniors Randy Weigel and Ron Hrabe. 97
