Elgin High School 1964 Yearbook (Elgin, IL) - Full Access

Well, eniors, our three years at Elgin High have come to an end. They were I un, busy, and at times unbearable. How many of us got lot those first few days as sophomores? Cam– paigning for our first class elections was hectic. Posters and speeche were clever. Jeff Rifken, Tam Lonergan, Marilyn Mansfield, and Noni Rogers were elected. Our sophomore football team took second place in the Big Eight, lo ing our Homecoming game to East Rockford. Our Junior year found half of our class at Larkin. Jon Krueger, Jim Buck, uzy Groeninger and Warren Zvara led the cia s which remained here. Even though we didn't a win prize for it, our float was a major project. It was constructed in Trabert's barn, and all had fun working on it. Springtime brought our class play, The piral Staircase and plans for the Prom. The gym was decorated like the New Orleans 40 waterfront. A showboat housed the band. The first project of our enior year was Homecoming. After a successful football game, a dance was held in the gym. uring the winter a tobogganing party was held at the Elgin ountry Club. We ended up playing categories at Judy Detherow's. orne boy, namely Jon Krueger and Gus Vaughan, ne er seemed to quite get the hang of it. Tim Keating did pretty well, though. We won the participation plaque during tudent Council Week. pecial mention here goe to Tom Akemann for his contribution to Dress Up Day. ur clas upp r, held at Villa Oli ia, was a highlight but the crowning point was graduation. As we now go our various, parate ways, let us never for– get all the good time and strong friendships made here at EHS.
