One unusual factor of "Snowed Inn" was the ar– rangement of the gym. The band played from a platform under the balcony- the lodge terrace. The walls were ski slo pes lined with real trees. Snowed Inn had its own skating rink. The flocked trees surrounding it added to the wintery theme. The entrance to the gym was made into a ski lodge, Snowed Inn . Here weary skiers, or dancers, could rest. A bear skin rug added to the authenticity of the scene. The cloak room was a ski shop with skiing equipment and apparel on display. .. .. ·.. . .' . . The winter formal was held this year at Elgin High. It was sponsored by the Elgin High and Larkin Student Councils. "Snowed Inn," theme of the dance, turned the lobby in– to a ski lodge, with the cloak room taking the appearance of a ski shop. Everything, includ– ing the dining room upstairs, was present to make it complete. The gym itself was an· out– door scene with mountains rising in the dis– tance, real trees, and a skating pond. "The Good Times Quintet" provided the music for dancing. The profits from this dance go to– ward the Student Body Scholarship given to deserving Seniors at the end of the year. -~ -:-~·-· 1. ._..c'_ . --·' ·--"'~· 28
